Khaberni - Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola expressed his complete conviction that his compatriot Rodri will return to his best levels with the team.
The Ballon d'Or-winning player has suffered repeated setbacks in his attempts to return to the field this season after a serious knee injury kept him out for most of the 2024-2025 season.
After the Spanish midfielder returned to the pitch at the beginning of last week following his recovery from a knee tendon injury, he missed the midweek UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund after suffering a new setback.
Guardiola has now confirmed that it is unlikely he will risk the 29-year-old player in the upcoming match against Liverpool in the Premier League later today, but he is confident that Rodri will eventually overcome his problems.
Guardiola said: "I am 100% convinced that he will come back and play. It may take some time to reach his usual level. He needs to go through the games one by one, but he will succeed."
The British news agency (PA Media) quoted Guardiola as saying: "We just need to make sure that the timing is right."
He continued, "All I want is for Rodri to always be happy, to start smiling, and to enjoy the matter again. It has been a tough period, but he is one of the most competitive football players I have met in my career. His motivation is amazing."
