Jordan Why was the budget of the Ministry of Industry reduced by 144 million dinars

Khaberni - The draft law of the general budget for the upcoming year reduced the budget of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply by 41%, to reach 20.9 million dinars instead of 35.3 million dinars, the reestimated amount for the current year, amounting to 14.4 million dinars, according to Al-Ghad newspaper.

According to the draft law, the capital expenditures of the ministry for the upcoming year are 9.078 million dinars compared to 24.545 million, with the allocations that were observed this year after reestimation, recording a decline of 63%.
According to the draft budget law, the decrease in capital expenditures of the Ministry accounted for 15.5 million dinars due to a decrease in allocations for projects of the economic modernization vision to 16.4 million dinars, with the decrease focusing on the industrial support project by 17 million dinars and the decrease in the grain container establishment project by 750 thousand dinars, alongside an increase in other ministry projects by 540 thousand dinars as a culmination of rising projects, including the implementation of the industrial policy document by 850 thousand dinars, the exhibitions and export promotion by 250 thousand dinars, and projects of decentralized governorates by 343 thousand dinars.
As for current expenditures, the total current expenditures for the Ministry of "Industry" for the upcoming year amounted to 11.8 million dinars compared to 10.7 million dinars as reestimated in this year's budget, an increase of 10%.
The increase in current expenditures was 1.1 million dinars as a result of the increase in total compensations for employees by 846 thousand dinars, to cover the natural annual increase and the cost of vacancies, events, and other appointments and transfers, in addition to an increase in operational expenditures by 35 thousand dinars, most of which is concentrated in cleaning supplies and items and an increase in non-financial public institution subsidies by 250 thousand dinars on the ship fuel saving item.
Regarding the distribution of the ministry's capital expenditures, they were allocated to the program of organizing, developing, and promoting the industrial and commercial sector by 7.750 million dinars for the purpose of implementing the Industry Support and Development Fund with a value of 3 million dinars, support and development of the industrial and commercial sector and preparation and implementation of a new export strategy worth 1.650 million dinars and 500 thousand dinars for the exhibition and export promotion purposes, in addition to allocating 1 million dinars to implement the industrial policy document and 250 thousand dinars for partnership projects with the private sector, 500 thousand dinars for developing and promoting the industrial and commercial sector, and 500 thousand dinars to support the development of e-commerce, and 200 thousand dinars for establishing and developing the industrial observatory, and 150 thousand dinars for building a database for various manufacturing and developing strategies for them.
This program aims to organize trade and develop a competition policy that establishes market mechanisms, through enhancing the capabilities of entities concerned with the application of the competition law and raising awareness of its provisions, and creating a database relied upon in conducting studies related to competition in the markets and setting competition in certain economic sectors.
The capital expenditures were also distributed on the Management and Support Services program by 345 thousand dinars for the purposes of maintenance, and rehabilitation of the Aqaba Industry Directorate by 25 thousand dinars, maintenance of public facilities in Irbid Governorate by 40 thousand dinars, and maintenance and rehabilitation of buildings in Mafraq Governorate by 85 thousand dinars, and construction of the Industry and Trade Directorate building in Zarqa by 195 thousand dinars.
The capital expenditures also included the Trade and Strategic Stock program by 233 thousand dinars, for the purposes of constructing Maan Feed Center by 200 thousand dinars, and studying the establishment of a comprehensive Feed Center in Mafraq Governorate by 13 thousand dinars, and constructing and maintaining Karak Feed Center by 20 thousand dinars.
The capital expenditures also included implementing the Industrial and Commercial Sector Competitiveness program by 750 thousand dinars, for the purpose of implementing an engineering industries strategy and roadmap valued at 500 thousand dinars, and supporting innovation centers and developing capabilities of engineering industries by 200 thousand dinars.
As for the current expenditures, they were distributed on Administrative and Support Services by 7.049 million dinars, organizing and implementing investment promotion programs by 1.367 million dinars, organizing domestic and foreign trade by 1.165 million dinars, enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial and commercial sector by 1.713 million dinars, and monitoring and following up on markets by 600 thousand dinars.
