Khaberni - Lebanese chef Abeer Saghier faced a widespread wave of criticism on social media after she posted a video featuring her husband Youssef Farahat and her brother carrying her during a tour in several European cities.
Abeer appeared in the video, which she shared on her official accounts, being carried on the shoulders of her husband and brother as they walked past famous tourist landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, Montjuic Castle, and the Spanish Village in Barcelona, along with other shots in different streets.
The clip generated a wide interaction among followers, where many considered it inappropriate and inconsistent with the image they were accustomed to from the Lebanese chef. One commenter wrote: "Your content used to be more beautiful and sophisticated. Travel and share but in a manner fitting for the viewer," while another added: "I loved your calm and composed nature, I didn’t like the video at all.. Focus on cooking instead."
In contrast, a number of followers defended Abeer, affirming that the clip did not contain anything that violated public taste, as she was dressed modestly and appeared only with her male relatives; they considered the criticism exaggerated.
It is noteworthy that Abeer Saghier had her marriage contract concluded on May 11th last year to Youssef Farahat in a simple family ceremony, where she announced that her dowry was a copy of the Holy Quran, in a symbolic gesture reflecting her adherence to spiritual and moral values in her married life.
Abeer Saghier, 26 years old, is one of the leading content creators in the field of cooking on digital platforms, known for her modern and simple style in presenting Arabic and international dishes, and her views on YouTube have exceeded 1.5 billion views.
She also won the Joy Award as the best influencer in the category of cooking and creative content.
