Khaberni - Valerie Tarazi, a member of the Palestinian swimming team, won Palestine’s first medal this Sunday, in the sixth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games hosted by Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, until November 21st.
Valerie won the bronze medal in the 200-meter individual medley race, finishing third with a time of 2:24.41.
Valerie also participated in the semifinals of the 100-meter backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:08.08 and fourth in her group, advancing to the final round tomorrow, Monday, and keeping her chances to win another medal.
In the 100-meter breaststroke final, Valerie placed fourth with a time of 1:14.17.
This participation marks the first time a member from the Palestinian team has competed in the Islamic Solidarity Games, following her previous stellar performance in the last edition of the Arab Championship, where she won six colored medals.
