Khaberni - The Food and Drug Authority seized a non-compliant gum product shaped like cigarettes in a supermarket in Rusaifa in Zarqa Governorate, which led to the closure of the facility.
According to a press release, the authority explained that its specialized inspection and control staff conducted extensive field campaigns during the past period to investigate the presence of the product in the local market following a note it received concerning the product, resulting in the seizure of approximately 17 boxes at the said facility, where it was found that the product had been illegally smuggled into the country.
The authority added that its staff secured the seized quantity and closed the supermarket, in addition to referring the owner to the public prosecutor to take the necessary legal actions, pointing out that the investigative and follow-up operations are still ongoing to ensure the local market is free of the product.
