Khaberni - Israeli settlers established a new colonial outpost today, Sunday, near the Abu Ghaliya and Al-Ararra Bedouin gatherings east of the town of Anata, east of occupied Jerusalem.
The general supervisor of the Al-Baidar human rights organization, Hassan Malihaat, explained that the construction work involves laying foundations for mobile homes, and moving construction equipment and tools, which poses a direct threat to the residents of the Bedouin gatherings and limits their ability to access their homes.
Malihaat confirmed that this step is part of a systematic policy to exert control over the lands, aiming to expand the colonial presence in the area.
A report issued by the Anti-Wall and Settlement Authority in early October revealed that after October 7, 2023, the planning authorities in the occupying state had reviewed a total of 182 structural plans for the purpose of building a total of 23,267 colonial units on an area of 14,000 dunams, with approval granted for 6,300 of these units, while 17,000 new colonial units were filed.
These plans were concentrated in the Jerusalem Governorate with 65 structural plans, of which 25 are outside the municipal boundaries and 65 within them, followed by the governorates of Salfit and Bethlehem with 22 plans each.
It added that the settlers, protected by the army of occupation, established 29 colonial outposts concentrated in the Hebron governorate with 8 outposts, Ramallah with 6 outposts, Bethlehem with 4 outposts, and 3 others in Nablus, in addition to constructing 7 roads to facilitate the movement of settlers and connecting outposts with existing colonies. It indicated that the occupying state decided to regulate or "legitimize" 11 colonial outposts and turn them into colonies or settlement neighborhoods belonging to existing colonies and transferred a total of 9 other outposts for legitimization procedures.
