Khaberni - As Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar'a makes a rare visit to the United States, the Israeli occupation has intensified its incursions into Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an independent organization based in London, said that Israeli military interventions inside Syrian territory continued notably over the past few days.
The Observatory explained that the Quneitra countryside witnessed 6 consecutive incursions in the past three days, during which Israeli forces used dozens of military vehicles and tanks, and set up temporary barriers to inspect civilians and vehicles and check their identification cards.
It mentioned that these incursions caused continuous pressure on the citizens and local residents, amid governmental silence.
The Observatory continued that the escalation of incursions began on November 7th, when an Israeli convoy consisting of 7 vehicles entered through "Al-Asha gate" towards the village of "Al-Rafid" in southern Quneitra countryside, with reconnaissance aircraft flying over the area.
On the same day, other Israeli forces consisting of 6 vehicles entered through the towns of "Had'r" and "Taranja" towards the village of "Ain Al-Bayda", then "Ovania", "Al-Hurriya", reaching the town of "Al-Hamidiya" north of Quneitra.
Also, an Israeli force consisting of 4 vehicles invaded the road of Khan Arnabeh town and Ovania village and established a temporary checkpoint to inspect civilians without making any arrests.
Four other military vehicles intruded into the village of "Al-Ajraf" north of Quneitra, setting up a temporary checkpoint to inspect vehicles and identification cards, before withdrawing after an hour.
On November 8th, an Israeli patrol entered the villages of "Al-Mushayrifah" and "Al-Ajraf" and established a temporary checkpoint to inspect civilians.
Today, Sunday, 6 military vehicles intruded into the area of "Al-Hafayer" towards "Ovania", followed by incursions of four vehicles by the Israeli forces which established a checkpoint between the villages of "Al-Samadaniya Al-Sharqiya" and "Khan Arnabeh".
Visit to America
The Syrian President made his first visit to the United States to participate in the proceedings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York where he gave a speech, but his visit to Washington is the first for a Syrian president since the country's independence in 1946.
Expectations suggest that Damascus will sign an agreement during this visit to join the international coalition against ISIS, led by Washington, as announced by the U.S. special envoy to Syria, Tom Barak.
Washington is seeking to push Israel and Syria to sign a security agreement between the two countries.
In September, Israel and Syria failed to reach a security agreement at the last minute due to a demand insisted upon by Tel Aviv, according to Reuters.
Reuters reported that four sources said the efforts to reach a security agreement between Syria and Israel stumbled at the last minute due to Israel's demand to open a "humanitarian corridor" into the As-Suwayda governorate in southern Syria.
Syria and Israel in the past few weeks came close to agreeing on the broad outlines of the agreement after several months of talks in Baku, Paris, and London, mediated by the United States.
