Khaberni - Ibrahim Al-Sarayrah, the second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, said on Sunday that the deputies are constantly in consultations regarding the selection of members of the parliamentary committees.
Al-Sarayrah added, during his talk to "Al-Mamlaka", that the permanent office has requested members of the House of Representatives and the party parliamentary blocs to name two members from each bloc for each committee, who should be specialized in the subject matter of the concerned committee.
He expected that the majority of the parliamentary committees would be selected by consensus, and that a session will be held on Tuesday following the budget speech session, dedicated to the selection of committees, with the permanent office supervising it.
Al-Sarayrah noted that work is underway to achieve consensus in selecting all twenty parliamentary committees, explaining that the blocs have been asked to nominate their members for the committees, with the chairmanship of each committee to be chosen democratically within it.
Al-Sarayrah confirmed the significant interest of the council members in the legislative bills that will be referred to the House of Representatives.
The House of Representatives, during a morning session on Tuesday, will listen to the general budget speech for the year 2026, delivered by the Finance Minister Abdul Hakim Al-Shibli.
Starting from Tuesday, the council will also begin electing its standing committees pursuant to Article (38) of its internal regulations; including the Legal Committee, the Finance Committee, the Economic and Investment Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Administration Committee, the Education and Training Committee, the Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee, the National Guidance and Media Committee, the Health and Food Committee, the Agriculture and Water Committee, the Environment and Climate Committee, and the Labor and Social Development and Population Committee.
It also includes; the Energy and Mineral Resources Committee, the Public Services and Transportation Committee, the Tourism and Antiquities Committee, the Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Committee, the Public Liberties and Human Rights Committee, the Women and Family Affairs Committee, the Rural and Badia Committee, and the Palestine Committee.
