Khaberni - Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Khaled Al-Bakkar, Minister of Labor, held a coordination meeting with representatives of mining companies working on exploration projects in the Kingdom, attended by the General Director of the Vocational Training Corporation.

The meeting was convened to discuss future cooperation prospects in developing and implementing specialized vocational training programs that meet the needs of the mining sector in the Kingdom, and in preparing qualified national competences that keep pace with local and regional labor market needs and support the national direction towards sustainable energy.

Al-Kharabsheh emphasized the importance of meeting the needs of the mining sector in related specializations, especially in light of the signing of two executive agreements for prospecting in gold and copper, plus a third agreement to be signed soon.

Al-Kharabsheh pointed out the eager commitment of the Vocational Training Corporation to align the training programs it implements with labor market demands and to direct efforts towards qualifying Jordanian youth to work in promising sectors, including energy and mining sectors.

In his turn, Al-Bakkar announced that the Vocational Training Corporation is currently working on establishing an institute in the Al-Hassa area, specialized in the fields of mining, manufacturing industries, and other specializations needed by the mining sector to be identified during the meeting.

Al-Bakkar directed the Vocational Training Corporation to form a specialized technical team to visit companies working in the energy and mining fields, to learn about their needs for qualified technical staff, aiming to develop training programs that meet local and regional market requirements and enhance employment opportunities within the "training leading to employment" model.

During the meeting, Dr. Ahmad Al-Gharaibeh, the General Director of the Vocational Training Corporation, presented a review of current training programs supporting the energy and mining sectors, including specializations such as geological sampling technician, geological mapping technician using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and technician in seismic and environmental monitoring, which are implemented at vocational training centers.

Al-Gharaibeh mentioned that the institution is also working on developing field training programs in sampling, legal training programs in the mining sector, and specialized programs in technical skills used in extraction operations, to meet the needs of national companies active in this vital sector.

The participants emphasized the importance of enhancing partnership between the public and private sectors within a modern training model that links training to employment, contributing to addressing unemployment challenges and providing sustainable job opportunities for Jordanian youth both inside and outside the Kingdom.

This cooperation enhancement between the ministers of Energy and Mineral Resources and Labor through the Vocational Training Corporation aims to enhance the readiness of national cadres and enable them to acquire required skills in vital sectors, within the framework of the Economic Modernization Vision 2026–2029 and achieving sustainable national development programs.
