Khaberni - The General Surgery Department and the Chronic Wound Unit at Prince Rashid bin Al Hassan Military Hospital in Irbid - Eidoon, led by the medical colonel specialist in general surgery and endocrine surgery Ahmed Obeidat, began using platelet-rich plasma injections to treat patients with diabetic foot and chronic wounds (PRP).
The hospital director, medical brigadier Firas Al-Hammouri, emphasized that this step is part of the Royal Medical Services' policy to keep up with scientific and medical advancements, and their commitment to introducing modern technologies to peripheral hospitals to serve patients and alleviate their burdens.
Medical colonel Ahmed Obeidat stated that this procedure is applied to patients suffering from wounds that require long treatment periods, where the platelet-rich plasma is extracted from the patient's own blood, then injected into the affected area following a precise medical protocol and under strict sterilization conditions.
The diabetic foot and chronic wound specialist, nursing major Malik Malkawi, explained that the initial results of the treatment showed significant improvement in many patients, noting that some chronic wounds were completely healed within a short period compared to conventional treatment, which could take much longer.
