The "Scientific Laboratory Guide" issued by the administration of the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Center for Technology and Education clarified the most prominent types of risks in school laboratories, their factors, and methods of dealing with them.

The guide indicated that some types of risks in school laboratories arise due to an improper work environment or tools that are unfit for use.

Among the incidents that laboratory workers in schools may be exposed to are:

• Fire.

• Gas leaks.

• Leakage of chemical liquids.

• Scattering of solid chemical substances.

• Contact with electric current.

• Contact with harmful chemicals.

• Contact with hot objects.

The guide also clarified that among the factors contributing to the occurrence of risks in school laboratories are the following:

1. Improper storage.

2. Improper electrical installations.

3. Using damaged or worn-out equipment or tools.

4. Lack of safety equipment (such as fire extinguishers or emergency exits).

5. Poor general cleanliness (such as liquid spills on the floor or presence of debris).

The guide pointed out that there are behaviors among some workers that are improper and can pose a risk in the laboratory, including:

• Ignoring safety warnings and instructions.

• Not using personal protective equipment.
