Khaberni - The surroundings of the Ministry of Labor witnessed a peaceful and civilized sit-in this morning organized by a number of Jordanian technicians who were dismissed from the Attarat power station project after being replaced by foreign workers, according to the participants in the sit-in.
The sit-in activities began at eight-thirty in the morning, where the technicians raised banners demanding fairness and a reconsideration of the decision to dispense with their services, emphasizing that they had provided years of continuous work on the project and contributed their expertise and efficiency since its inception.
The participants said they were surprised by the dismissal decisions without clear professional justifications, considering that replacing local staff with foreign expertise harms the Jordanian labor market and contradicts the spirit of national support for local employment.
They called for the Ministry of Labor to urgently intervene to protect their rights and ensure the enforcement of the laws regulating the labor market.
They also emphasized that their sit-in is peaceful and civilized, and their sole aim is to make their voices heard by the relevant authorities, affirming that they do not oppose the presence of foreign workers, but demand justice that equates their efforts and preserves their right to work within their homeland.
The protesters urged the government to review substitution policies in major projects and ensure that priority is given to qualified Jordanian cadres, especially in the energy sector, which has seen significant development in recent years thanks to local competencies.
The participants are awaiting an official response from the Ministry of Labor, confirming their readiness to dialogue and cooperate in order to reach a solution that is fair to the Jordanian worker and maintains the stability of national projects.
