Khaberni - With many people occupied with their smartphones for more than five hours daily, dermatology experts warned of a common phenomenon even among the youth, known as "tech neck". This refers to the wrinkles and sagging skin on the neck resulting from repeatedly tilting the head while using digital devices.

Dr. Helen He, the co-director of the Mount Sinai-Clinic for Skin Health, mentioned, "The skin on the neck is thinner and more sensitive than other parts of the body, making it more susceptible to wrinkles and lines as we age. We have seen an increase in patients worried about neck sagging and wrinkles even at younger ages."

Dr. Jacob Bir, a dermatologist in Florida, explained, "The signs vary with age; teenagers and middle-aged adults show deeper front lines due to a combination of sun damage and bending the neck to look at devices."

How can one prevent tech neck?
Experts emphasize proper body posture by raising the screen to eye level to reduce leaning forward, which alleviates muscle tension and protects the skin, according to the "New York Post".

It is also recommended to take daily care of the neck using a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, along with effective ingredients such as retinoids, peptides, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants (vitamins C and E).

Dr. Bir stressed the importance of regularly applying sunscreen to the neck, saying, "We often notice that patients forget about the neck when applying sunscreen, despite being careful with their face. Use an SPF of 30 or higher."

In addition to home care, there are medical procedures in the clinic that help prevent the worsening of neck lines and improve their appearance.
