After Ahmed El Sakkas ExWife is Taken to Trial Owner of the Stolen Paintings Arrives in Egypt

Khaberni - Days after the media personality Maha El Sagheer, the ex-wife of artist Ahmed El Sakka, was taken to the Economic Court on charges of violating the intellectual property rights of international artworks, the Danish painter, Lisa Lak Nielsen, owner of the stolen paintings, arrived in Egypt for a several-day visit in response to an invitation from the Egyptian authorities.

Major General Amr Hanafi, the Governor of the Red Sea, announced the arrival of the Danish painter to Egypt in response to the invitation extended to her by the governorate last July, adding that a tourism company bore all expenses and organized an outstanding program for her, including visits to several tourist and archaeological sites and organizing art workshops with a number of artists.

The Governor of the Red Sea clarified that the artist will stay in Cairo during her visit and may visit Hurghada if she wishes, noting that Egypt encourages art and innovation, and is keen to provide all support to artists, considering art in all its forms as one of the most sophisticated means of human expression, playing an important role in shaping visual and cultural awareness and enhancing the artistic taste of the public.

He indicated that inviting the Danish painter to visit Egypt is a message to affirm that art is an effective means of building peace as it is a universal language capable of enhancing empathy and understanding among different peoples and cultures.

For her part, the Danish painter said she is delighted to visit Egypt and feels loved by everyone, eager to visit the tourist and archaeological sites, including the Great Egyptian Museum, considered the project of the century. She extended her thanks to the Egyptian state and the Governor of the Red Sea for this gracious gesture. She said she loves the city of Hurghada but has focused this current visit to Egypt on exploring archaeological and tourist landmarks in Cairo.

Regarding the incident of her paintings being stolen by the media personality Maha El Sagheer, the Danish painter said she felt sad when she learned of her referral to trial, stressing that this was not her decision but rather Egyptian judicial procedures that she cannot interfere with, and expressed her sympathy for the Egyptian media personality, wishing her no harm and hoping she gets through her crisis well.

Nielsen had announced that she was unaware of the theft of one of her paintings by the media personality Maha El Sagheer until she was sent video clips from a television program in Arabic.

For her part, the Danish painter said she is happy about her visit to Egypt and feels loved by everyone, looking forward to visiting the tourist and archeological areas, at the top of which is the Great Egyptian Museum, deemed the project of the century. She thanked the Egyptian state and the Governor of the Red Sea for this kind gesture. She said she loves the city of Hurghada, but she has focused her current visit to Egypt on seeing the archaeological and tourist landmarks in Cairo.
