Khaberni - The U.S. authorities are searching for a man who is alleged to have opened fire on Saturday on Border Patrol agents in Chicago, as reported by the "New York Post".

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) wrote on the "X" platform that the shooter was driving a black Jeep when he fired shots near 26th Street and Kedzie Avenue, while agents were conducting immigration law enforcement operations on the southwest side of the city.

During the incident, rioters also threw a paint can and bricks at agency vehicles. The Chicago Police cleared the site, and the shooter is still at large.

The agency stated in its post: "The shooter and the vehicle are still at large, and this is a dynamic situation."

According to reports, no one was harmed, while the Department of Homeland Security clarified that "this incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend toward violence and obstruction."

It added: "Over the past two months, we've seen an increase in assaults and obstructions targeting federal law enforcement officers during operations. These encounters highlight the risks our agents face daily and the escalation in aggression towards law enforcement. This violence must stop."
