In its continuous pursuit of academic excellence and enhancing its international scientific presence, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University participated in the 24th annual conference of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP 2025), held in the Arab Republic of Egypt/Cairo, under the slogan "Pharmacovigilance: Back to the Future," where the university was represented at the conference by: Professor Dr. Rana Abu Haweij, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and Dr. Lubna Al-Gharaibeh, Vice Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the university.

Dr. Abu Haweij presented two research papers at the conference, addressing effective strategies for enhancing the safety of medications used in lung cancer treatment, focusing on reducing the toxicity of cisplatin, in addition to highlighting the safety aspects of certain herbal substances from a pharmacovigilance perspective. Dr. Al-Gharaibeh also participated in the conference aiming to enhance networking and building cooperation bridges with pharmacovigilance officials in neighboring countries, as part of efforts to develop the drug monitoring field and ensure its safety..

Dr. Abu Haweij reaffirmed during her participation the leading role of Amman Arab University in supporting scientific research and innovation, as a number of outstanding scientific research papers presented by masters students in pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs at the College of Pharmacy were accepted for presentation at the scientific conference, which included students Amna Abu Qamar, and Wafa Al-Rawashdeh, who presented two research papers reflecting the high scientific level of the university’s students and their research efforts in developing the pharmaceutical sector and patient safety. Dr. Abu Haweij indicated that the research papers presented were published in the international journal Drug Safety, listed within the database Springer Scopus in the Q1 category ..

Dr. Abu Haweij also mentioned that international cooperation and knowledge exchange form a fundamental pillar in the development of the master's program in pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs offered uniquely by Amman Arab University, aligning with global regulatory standards and policies, and contributing to enhancing drug safety nationally and internationally, and added that Amman Arab University is proud of this prestigious participation that embodies its commitment to its academic mission in supporting the national healthcare system, advancing pharmaceutical education, enhancing scientific research, and solidifying its position as a leading academic institution in the field of pharmacovigilance and regulatory affairs both locally and internationally..

It is noted that the (ISoP) conference is part of one of the most prominent and important global events specializing in drug and patient safety, with the participation of more than (450) experts and specialists from more than (70) countries, including representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Medicines Agency (EMA), and the Jordanian Food and Drug Administration, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, alongside numerous global pharmaceutical companies and other international bodies and organizations.
