Khaberni - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, joked with U.S. President Donald Trump during their meeting in Washington, suggesting borrowing White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt to work for him in Budapest. During a joint press conference held at the White House on Friday, Trump was asked about the food prices in the country, where he confirmed that prices were much higher during Joe Biden's administration, indicating that the situation has now improved thanks to "his daily work to improve the economy," while also criticizing the media for not covering what he described as "his achievements".
Trump called on his spokeswoman Levitt to answer, but she was not present in the office, prompting him to joke: "Where is Caroline? She has abandoned us... abandoned me. Our great star has left us."
When Levitt returned, she emphatically assured the journalists that the president works daily on addressing the price issue, pointing out that the media ignores the fact that prices were "several times higher under Biden's term."
At that moment, Orban said to Trump with a smile, "Can I borrow her sometimes?"
Trump responded with the same smile, "Caroline, the Prime Minister wants you to work for him in Hungary, and I agree, it's a very right decision... but please don’t leave us, Caroline."
It should be noted that Caroline Levitt is an American journalist from New Hampshire, who graduated from Saint Anselm College in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in politics and communications. During her college years, she applied for a position at the White House in 2018, and was accepted after her graduation, beginning her professional career as a presidential writer.
During President Trump's first term, Levitt worked as an assistant to then White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany, which gave her a prominent presence within the administration's media team. In 2022, she ran in the primary elections for Congress in her state, but she did not succeed in this race.
Later, Trump chose her as the spokeswoman for his 2024 campaign and then nominated her for the position of White House spokeswoman after winning his second presidential term, making her the youngest to hold this position in the history of the United States. Trump praised "Levitt's intelligence, resilience, and effective communication skills," affirming his confidence in her success in her new role.
