Khaberni - James D. Watson, the scientist who participated in the discovery of the double-helical structure of DNA in 1953, has died at the age of 97.
This scientific discovery, made when Watson, born in Chicago, was only twenty-four years old, transformed him into a respected figure in the scientific community.
However, towards the end of his life, Watson faced professional condemnation due to his offensive remarks, such as stating that black-skinned people are less intelligent than white-skinned people.
In 1962, Watson received the Nobel Prize jointly with Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins for their discovery that deoxyribonucleic acid or (DNA) is a double helix, consisting of two strands that twist around each other to form a structure resembling a long, gently twisting ladder.
