Khaberni - The American sports scene witnessed a tragic incident after young Dallas Cowboys player Marshawn Neyland committed suicide following a police chase in Texas.
According to authorities, 24-year-old Neyland shot himself last Wednesday evening, after fleeing from police officers who tried to stop his car for a traffic violation in the city of Frisco.
The chase lasted a few minutes before the police lost track of the vehicle, which was later found abandoned after a crash.
The athlete continued fleeing on foot until he was found dead after midnight, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, believed to have been self-inflicted.
The Dallas Cowboys club issued an official statement mourning their young player, expressing deep sorrow and sympathy for his family and partner Catalina, describing him as "a beloved teammate and important member of the team family."
The American Football League also mourned the player, affirming its full support for his family during these difficult circumstances.
On the other hand, media reports indicated that the player had recently expressed suicidal thoughts, adding to the tragedy of the incident and reigniting the debate on the psychological pressures faced by American athletes in major leagues.
