Khaberni - The Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump supports nuclear disarmament, but considers testing them necessary for ensuring American security.
The American newspaper reported from an official that "Trump 'supports nuclear disarmament,' but 'considers this action in nuclear tests appropriate' to maintain effective nuclear deterrence and ensure the national security of the United States."
Yesterday, Wednesday, the United States conducted a test launch of the "Minuteman-3" intercontinental missile. Trump announced that he ordered nuclear weapons tests "on an equal footing" with other countries which allegedly have - similar programs.
The Washington Post mentioned that the ambiguous order issued by President Trump to resume nuclear testing has led Russia to announce that they will explore the possibility of doing so too, considering this a worrisome development that brings to mind the arms races between the two great powers during the Cold War era.
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for proposals on how the country might re-test its weapons for the first time in 35 years, although he did not explicitly order the start of any preparations, as stated by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov to the reporters.
This serious escalation began a week ago when Trump wrote on social media that the United States will act "immediately" and "on an equal footing" with Russia and China, claiming that these countries conduct such tests secretly.
The White House has refused to provide any additional details regarding the direct order of the President - which initially seemed to have been mistakenly sent to the Department of War (Pentagon) instead of the Department of Energy, which oversees nuclear testing - as well as his claims regarding Russia and China.
Since then, statements by the President and other officials in the administration have only increased the ambiguity, according to the American newspaper's report.
