Khaberni - Middle East University, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate, organized a specialized dialogue session titled "Social Peace, Cybercrimes and Drug Enforcement", targeting university students, attended by the university's vice president Dr. Ahmad Al-Louzi, the director of Central Badia Police Colonel Omar Al-Shamayleh, along with a number of deans and members of the faculty and administrative staff, as well as a group of officers from the Public Security Directorate.
The session's topics were distributed across three dimensions, presented by Captain Ayoub Abu Rabie from the Cybercrimes Unit, Captain Ammar Al-Rawajih from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Lieutenant Yousef Al-Daqqak from the Criminal Information Management, and First Lieutenant Ziyad Al-Dareen from the Preventive Security - Community Peace Center.
Captain Abu Rabie pointed out that the digital space is no longer entirely safe, noting that the kingdom has recorded more than 24,000 cases related to extortion and electronic fraud, he emphasized the dangers of unsafe use of social media applications, particularly "Snapchat", which is mistakenly believed to maintain privacy, and that legal penalties in this field could reach up to three years in prison and a fine of 20,000 dinar.
Meanwhile, Captain Ammar Al-Rawajih spoke about the reality of drug enforcement in Jordan, explaining that traffickers exploit misleading rhetoric to convince the youth about the ability of certain substances to enhance focus or activity, while these practices lead to gradual addiction and loss of behavioral control.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Al-Badareen gave a brief presentation on the nature of work at the Community Peace Center, its roles and main tasks, as it aims to establish a healthy social environment on both intellectual and behavioral levels, reaffirming its commitment to combating extremist thinking, hate speech, and promoting values of coexistence and moderation.
The session witnessed an open interactive discussion between the students and the public security officers, covering community prevention mechanisms and ways to report cybercrimes confidentially and safely.
