President of Mexico Files Lawsuit Against a Drunk Man

Khaberni - The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, said today, Wednesday, that the harassment she was subjected to by a drunk man in the street near the Mexican government headquarters was an assault on all women, and for this reason, she decided to file a lawsuit against him.

Mexico City Mayor, Clara Brugada, announced overnight that the man had been arrested. In a video widely circulated on social media platforms, the man appeared to lean in to kiss and touch the President's body with his hands. However, she gently pushed his hands away, maintaining a frozen smile as she turned to face him. She was partly heard saying, "Don't worry."

Sheinbaum explained that she and her team decided to walk from the National Palace to the Ministry of Education to save time. She said they could reach it on foot in five minutes instead of driving for 20 minutes, confirming that she will not change her behavior.

Sheinbaum, like her predecessor and political mentor, former president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, tries to stay connected with the people. She often walks among crowds, takes selfies with them, and shakes their hands.

Her security personnel did not immediately appear in a close-up shot of the video yesterday.

It is worth mentioning that Sheinbaum, like her predecessor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, does not use the military unit typically designated for presidential protection.

Mexico City Mayor, Clara Brugada, wrote on the social media platform X: "If they touch the President, they touch us all. Today, when the President is harassed simply because she is a woman, it is harassment against us all."

Sheinbaum, who is 63 years old, is the first woman to hold the presidency in the history of Mexico. A study conducted by the National Institute of Statistics indicates that about half of all women in Mexico have been subjected to sexual violence at least once.
