Khaberni - Today, Wednesday, the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, visited the tomb of His Holiness Pope Francis at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in the Italian capital, Rome.

Abu Mazen placed a wreath of flowers on the tomb, as a token of appreciation and recognition from the Palestinian people for Pope Francis's humane and honorable stances towards the Palestinian people and their just cause, including the Vatican's recognition of the State of Palestine in 2015, and his historic visit to Palestine in 2014, where he visited Bethlehem and East Jerusalem and reaffirmed his steadfast support for peace and justice.

During the visit, the President recalled the positions and statements of Pope Francis, advocating for the cessation of the war in Gaza, and his phone calls with the affected Palestinian families, including his call to the children of the Holy Family Church in Gaza, which reflected the depth of his humanity and his constant care for the oppressed, and spreading the values of mercy and peace in the world.

Accompanying the Palestinian President on this visit are: a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Head of the Supreme Presidential Committee for Church Affairs Ramzi Khoury, and member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization Ziad Abu Amro, the President's Advisor for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi al-Khaldi, the ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Vatican Issa Qassissia, and the ambassador of the State of Palestine to Italy Muna Abu Amara.
