Khaberni - Polish striker Robert Lewandowski made striking comments about his physical condition after returning from injury, about his future, and about his Spanish teammate Lamine Jamal, and the competition in the UEFA Champions League.
Barcelona will visit Club Brugge in Belgium in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage for the current season (2025-2026).
The Polish star returned to the Barcelona lineup in their match against Elche (3-1) and was a substitute in the second half, and will be part of the team in tonight's face-off against Club Brugge.
Lewandowski said at the press conference: "I feel good after the injury, and physically in excellent condition. I played with the team three days ago, and most importantly for me is how I can help the team to win against Club Brugge."
He added: "Regarding my future, I am calm, and the time is unimportant. There are important matters now, like the team and my national team and how we reach our goals, so I focus on giving my utmost to win matches and titles."
He continued: "I faced some problems at the end of the season, but I am fine now. When you have a lot of matches in a season, it's important to be at your best at the end."
He mentioned: "So far I've had two injuries, but I have been working very hard in the last two weeks, and now I am at the peak of my performance. If we play as one team, we are dangerous and we can win titles. Based on my experience, I am calm, and I know I can help the team, let's see what happens."
Robert Lewandowski returned to talk about his future, saying: "I am not in a rush, the most important is how I feel after the end of the season, I'll see what I'll do then, but right now I'm focused on the team as I said, I don’t have time to talk about my future right now."
The Polish player was absent during the international break in October last year, due to an injury with his national team, but he returned ahead of schedule.
Robert commented: "I missed a lot of playing minutes this season, joining the national team helped me a lot. The plan I followed was specifically designed for me."
He continued: "The coaches' experience helped me understand the optimal approach for me, and I am very happy with how things went. I feel in great shape, and I hope to be able to play at a high level until the end of the season. It doesn't matter how you start the season, but how you finish it, therefore passion and desire are the most important factors that helped me overcome the injury."
When Robert Lewandowski was asked to comment on his teammate Lamine Jamal's situation at a press conference, he surprised everyone. Instead of discussing the young star's progress or offering him encouragement, the Polish striker sidestepped the topic completely.
He said: "I haven't spoken to him for a long time, but what can I say to him now? It's better not to talk about him much, he needs tranquility. I am talking about myself here."
He added: "What he is going through now is normal for a player of his age, in the end, I should only talk to him privately, not publicly or through the media."
He further discussed Barcelona's performance this season: "There is a bit of instability due to injuries as the coach said. It’s not easy to have more than one player out of the team for a week or two or three."
He continued: "In football, there are moments where things don't go well, which is normal, but what's most important is to take advantage of the moments when you win matches. To win and play well, that's natural in football. Especially after a big previous season, when we played at our maximum capacity."
