Khaberni - A court in the city of Aachen, western Germany, has sentenced a 44-year-old nurse to life imprisonment after convicting him of killing 10 patients and attempting to kill 27 others.
According to investigations, the nurse administered lethal injections to patients in the care unit during his shifts between 2023 and 2024 at a hospital in the city of Voerendaal in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The indictment stated that the nurse sought a sense of calm and tranquility during his night shifts, which led him to commit these horrific crimes, according to the German news agency.
He was arrested in July 2024, after being suspected in 11 cases, before further details emerged during the investigations in February last year.
The public prosecutor's office in Aachen initially charged him with five counts of murder and 25 counts of attempted murder, but ongoing investigations later led to additional charges being brought against him, thus completing the picture of the crimes that shocked the German community.
