Khaberni - The Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Saeb Khreisat, confirmed on Wednesday the importance of enhancing the role of Arab women in the agricultural sector, and enabling them to access sustainable funding sources that contribute to the development of their agricultural projects, and support the transition to circular agriculture as one of the modern pathways to achieve food security in the region.
He said this during his sponsorship of the launch of the high-level regional dialogue titled: "Empowering Women through Financing Policies to Advance Circular Agriculture in the Arab Region," organized by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development with the participation of agriculture ministers from the member Arab states.
Khreisat stated that women constitute a fundamental cornerstone in the agricultural development process, and that economically and knowledgeably empowering them is a crucial step towards enhancing local production and improving living conditions in the countryside.
He pointed out that Jordan pays special attention to supporting women's participation in all stages of agricultural production through training programs and entrepreneurial projects implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture in cooperation with development partners.
He explained that this regional dialogue represents an important platform for exchanging expertise and experiences among the Arab countries in the field of green financing and sustainable agricultural projects, emphasizing the need to unify regional efforts to adopt flexible and inclusive financing policies that consider the needs of women in the countryside and support innovation in natural resource management.
On his part, the Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, Ibrahim Al-Dakhiri, stated in a comment to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the meeting comes within the framework of the organization's efforts to enhance Arab cooperation in the field of sustainable agriculture and to spread the concept of circular agriculture based on reusing resources and reducing waste, which contributes to addressing the environmental and economic challenges facing the region.
The first day's panel sessions witnessed interventions by a number of Arab and international ministers and experts, discussing ways to develop financial policies that support women, the importance of capacity building and technical training, in addition to presenting success stories of pioneering women's projects in the fields of agricultural production, water management, and renewable energy.
It is noted that the dialogue aims to identify priorities for joint Arab action in the areas of empowering women, improving their opportunities to access agricultural financing, and supporting small and medium projects that contribute to sustainable rural development.
