Security Scandal in Israel Leak of National Security Minister Ben Gvirs Diaries for Two Years

Khaberni - The records of the Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir were subjected to a serious security breach, allowing access to his schedule, diaries, and political and security notes over the course of the previous two years.

The newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" described Ben Gvir's breached records as "an electronic platform listing the minister’s work meetings and scheduled tours, including their locations, alongside the security and political tasks he assigned himself and his close associates."

Journalist Uri Cohen considered the incident at Ben Gvir's office as "a serious and unprecedented security flaw in a ministry that is supposed to be concerned with Israel's national security."

Following this security flaw, Ben Gvir's diaries became accessible to everyone, including his emails and social media accounts.

According to the Hebrew newspaper, Ben Gvir's diaries included summaries and notes the minister wrote after his meetings with security and political figures, as well as with journalists and media personnel.

Following the breach of the electronic platform, issues that preoccupy the minister emerged, including his impressions from private meetings held with dozens of correspondents, editors, and commentators from various sectors of the political and security field.

Among the meetings, Ben Gvir met on March 17th with Israeli journalist Amit Segal, and after the meeting, the minister wrote: "We discussed in depth the problem of Israel not returning to war." Regarding his impression of the guest, he added: "Netanyahu's policy exhausted Segal, or he exhausts himself."

About a month after taking over the National Security portfolio, Ben Gvir met with the CEO of "Walla", Orit Stelkovnik, and expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, saying: "He leaves a very good impression, we can work with him."

After his mid-February talk with Yisrael Tuwito, director and chief editor of the "i24NEWS" channel, Ben Gvir reported that the meeting was good, and they agreed on "continuing to work together."

Among other notable meetings featured in the diaries, Ben Gvir met with Brigadier General (res.) Erez Winner, who was dismissed from the Israeli army after losing classified documents in March, upon revelations of his connections with Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

Immediately after Winner’s dismissal, Ben Gvir noted about the meeting: "Excellent meeting, very nice man, let's consider him for future."

On behalf of Itamar Ben Gvir, his office refrained from commenting on the platform breach, instead pointing out that "the diaries of the Minister of National Security confirm that he is the most active among the ministers who have held office, and he works for the benefit of Israelis."
