Khaberni - The Israeli occupation authorities announced the launch of two new tenders for the construction of a settlement neighborhood in the "Adam/Givat Binyamin" settlement, established on Palestinian lands northeast of Jerusalem.

The Governorate of Jerusalem stated in an announcement on Wednesday that this declaration is a serious escalation in the policy of settlement expansion and annexation of more lands located within the northeastern slopes of the city, as part of a frantic race to impose new demographic and geographic realities that serve the "Greater Jerusalem" project.

It stated that the so-called Israeli Ministry of Housing has published two tenders, the first includes the construction of 342 settlement units distributed across five complexes, while the second includes 14 separate houses designated for reservists in the occupation army.

This project is based on a construction plan approved last January which expands the building area of the settlement by about 150 dunams towards the Bedouin community in Jaba'.

The Governorate explained that this expansion is part of a broader plan to connect the settlement with the settlement outpost "Givat Gur Aryeh" that was established last February next to Jaba', accompanied by an escalation of daily and violent attacks by settlers on the citizens of the community, leading to the creation of continuous settlement contact aiming at besieging the Palestinian presence and pushing for forced displacement.

The occupation authorities also announced last Sunday an additional tender for planning and building a new settlement complex in "New Jib'oun" settlement northwest of Jerusalem, which reinforces the settlement ring around the occupied capital.

The Governorate of Jerusalem indicated that since the beginning of the year 2025, a total of 5,667 settlement units have been launched in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, a record number up by about 50% compared with the previous peak recorded in 2018.

The Governorate also documented last October, based on daily monitoring of the official announcements issued by what is called the Civil Administration and the occupation municipality in Jerusalem, in collaboration with Beit al-Sharq Center, 13 colonial plans; five of these were submitted and include 769 units over an area of 19,861 dunams, and five were approved comprising 5,129 new units.
