Khaberni - The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court registered 15,000 civil marriage requests for foreigners and 7,600 civil guardianship applications during the first nine months of 2025, reflecting the growing demand for court services and its role in establishing Abu Dhabi's position as a leading global destination in the civil family justice system.
The statistics released by the Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department showed that the Civil Family Court received about 15,000 civil marriage applications from the beginning of January until the end of September 2025, with an average of 1,540 applications per month, and a daily rate of 77 applications, approximately 14 civil marriages per hour, demonstrating the trust of residents and visitors in the sophisticated services provided by the court, highlighted by the speed of procedures and availability in both Arabic and English.
The court also recorded 7,600 civil guardianship requests during the same period, including 1,080 requests in September alone, with a daily average of 55 requests, about 9 guardianships per hour.
The civil guardianship service allows for complete electronic registration from within the country or abroad, with the possibility of digital authentication without the need for personal attendance, making it a flexible and suitable option for different nationalities residing and visiting.
The court has seen increasing interest from approximately 120 nationalities among residents and visitors, including a percentage of tourists who specifically come to the emirate to benefit from its services, highlighting the global appreciation for the efficiency of the civil family justice system in Abu Dhabi, and what it provides of an advanced legal environment that meets international standards and accommodates the needs of multicultural societies.
These indicators reflect the success of the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court model as the first of its kind in the region to implement a bilingual civil judicial system, issuing judgments, documents, and lawsuit papers in both Arabic and English.
The court applies civil law in personal status cases for foreigners, and offers comprehensive services including civil marriage, no-fault divorce, joint custody, civil wills, and estates, with the possibility of completing all procedures digitally.
