Khaberni - Kuwait plans to initiate a standardized electronic system with advanced technical standards to monitor prize draws and competitions of companies and banks, and to eliminate the role of human oversight, in order to ensure high levels of transparency in prize draws without fraudulent activities, according to sources from the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai.
These sources further state that the new electronic system will enhance the integrity of the outputs of prize draws and competitions, thereby reducing the chances of human intervention in selecting winners, and eliminating manual draws or those conducted with self-regulated human oversight, whether by the companies conducting the draws or by the ministry officials overseeing them.
The significant Kuwaiti action comes in the wake of what is known as the "prize draw scandal" and the surprises that followed the incident after the Kuwaiti Public Prosecution exposed an organized criminal network that manipulated the results of commercial draws and compromised the fairness of their procedures, exploiting public employment and vulnerabilities in the oversight, with the aim of achieving unlawful financial gains and sharing them among its members.
The investigations by the Public Prosecution on the manipulation of prize draws concluded with the referral of 73 suspects to the Criminal Court for crimes of bribery, mediation therein, forgery in official and electronic documents, and money laundering, as evidence converged on a united intent and criminal purpose among the perpetrators.
