Khaberni - Arab Bank has launched the "Art of Recycling" initiative in cooperation with the Children's Museum for the second consecutive year; aiming to enhance environmental awareness among children and encourage them to use recyclable materials and reduce their harmful effects on the environment in innovative and enjoyable ways. This initiative is part of Arab Bank's "Together" program for corporate responsibility, which supports efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable development in the local community through several areas, including environmental protection.
The initiative includes the development and implementation of artistic exhibits and activities using environmentally friendly and recycled materials, collected at a dedicated station for gathering various materials such as used paper, plastic materials, buttons, car tires, accessories, keys, and more, with the aim of encouraging visitors to collect used materials and reuse them in implementing various artistic works within the project framework. The initiative also aims to motivate children and their families to adopt the principle of sorting surplus materials and recycling them at home as part of their daily practices.
Through the initiative, a series of interactive artistic activities will be implemented with children at the museum; including the activity "Flowers from Jordan" where children use paper mache to create large models of prominent wildflowers in Jordan such as the black Iris and poppies, along with the activity "Scrap and Panels" where children create various artistic paintings using collage art from scraps of paper and fabric. Museum artists will also transform the materials collected by visitors into unique and distinctive artworks within the activity "Monochrome Painting" to embody the idea of sustainable beauty resulting from recycling.
In her comment on this initiative, Mrs. Sawsan Al-Dalq, the Director of the Children's Museum, said: "We thank Arab Bank for its continuous support for the Children's Museum, and its belief in the positive impact of the museum on its visitors. The bank's support for this initiative for the second consecutive year emphasizes its importance and its active role in raising awareness about environmental issues that are increasingly posing a challenge to our safety and the safety of future generations if not addressed properly".
The Children’s Museum is a non-profit educational institution launched by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah in 2007, featuring over 195 interactive educational exhibits inside its exhibition hall and outdoor courtyard, and educational facilities including a library, art studio, invention lab, and a secret garden. It also offers educational programs, events, and shows throughout the year, and has welcomed over 4 million visitors since its opening.
It is worth mentioning here that Arab Bank adopts a comprehensive and integrated strategy in sustainability and corporate responsibility, reflecting the bank's commitment to enhancing its economic, social, and environmental impact by working closely with various stakeholders to achieve sustainable development. Arab Bank's social responsibility program "Together" represents one of the fruits of this approach, and it is a multifaceted program focused on developing and nurturing different aspects of the community through various initiatives and activities serving several sectors including health, poverty alleviation, environmental protection, education, orphan support, and women's empowerment.
