Equipping 291 buses within the boundaries of Greater Amman Municipality out of a targeted 350 with smart transportation systems

Khaberni - The number of buses equipped with smart transportation systems within the Greater Amman Municipality reached 291 out of a targeted 350, according to the work progress report for the Executive Program for the Economic Modernization Vision (2023-2025) for the transportation sector.

The report, monitored by "Al-Mamlaka", indicated that the predictive transportation project through the computerized system has been completed by approximately 80%, reflecting the accelerated progress in the project of transitioning towards an advanced transportation system relying on technology.

The Ministry of Transport has also completed the studies and designs for the comprehensive plan of the Jaber border center, and a tender has been issued for the investment of electronic billboards on roads as part of the first group of the advertising boards investment project, according to the report.

The ministry worked on establishing a unified weighing program for all centers in the kingdom and electronically linking it as part of the project to develop the axial load management system.

The ministry issued a tender for the execution of part of the Irbid circular road and gave the order to start the work to the contractor.

Approximately 45% of the smart customs gates project in Aqaba Governorate has been completed, and efforts were made to arrange the approvals from the Commissioners Council and the Prime Minister's office as part of the project to manage and operate the multipurpose port within the new Aqaba Port premises with Abu Dhabi Ports.

A tender was issued for the project "Updating monitoring devices and the coastal station", and preparation of the site at the Queen Alia International Airport free zone has begun along with the construction of ready-to-rent warehouses.

The ministry completed the first phase of the preliminary designs for the King Hussein Bridge Station project and achieved about 45% completion of the Al Durrah border center development project, in addition to conducting a survey of lines, stands, and complexes in the Karak Governorate as part of the public transport database project.

The achievements also included the fleet modernization program, where 500 trucks were updated as part of the replacement modernization project for the freight transport fleet.
