Khaberni - US President Donald Trump announced on his "Truth Social" platform on Tuesday that he will reappoint billionaire Jared Isaacman, a close associate of Elon Musk, as the head of NASA, despite having withdrawn his nomination for this position last May.
The Republican president clarified in his post that Isaacman is "the perfect person to lead NASA into a new and bold era."
In May, Donald Trump withdrew Isaacman's nomination, accusing him of making donations to prominent Democrats.
If the Senate confirms his appointment, Isaacman will replace Transportation Secretary Sean Dove, who has held the role of acting director of the agency.
Trump added in his post, "Jared's passion for space, his experience as an astronaut, his dedication to pushing the boundaries of exploration, uncovering the secrets of the universe, and advancing the new space economy make him ideally suited to lead NASA."
The businessman billionaire and close associate of Elon Musk was ousted from the position at the end of May before a public clash between Trump and Musk over a budget bill.
Trump justified this change by saying that Isaacman is "a Democrat who has never supported any Republican campaign."
He also added, "I also saw that it was inappropriate for a very close friend of Elon Musk who works in the space industry to lead NASA."
Musk and Trump were very close, with the world's richest man contributing more than $270 million to the Republican's presidential campaign, leading the "Government Efficiency Committee" to cut federal spending, and being a frequent guest in the Oval Office.
Isaacman, the 42-year-old founder of "Shift4 Payments," emerged as a leading figure in commercial space travel through his prominent collaboration with SpaceX.
Isaacman made history last September when he stepped out of the "Crew Dragon" spacecraft to view Earth from space while holding onto the craft's exterior, in the first spacewalk conducted by a civilian and non-professional astronaut.
