Khaberni - The Sudanese Security and Defense Council announced on Tuesday the general mobilization of the armed forces, and rallied the people to help eliminate the rebellion of the Rapid Support Forces.
This came at the conclusion of an emergency meeting held by the Council on Tuesday in the capital Khartoum, amid ongoing fighting in various parts of the country.
The Council, in a statement, saluted the Sudanese people and their sacrifices and mourned the martyrs of the Battle of Dignity, while confirming the state's support for the families of the martyrs, prisoners, and missing persons.
The statement said the meeting discussed "the necessary arrangements to prevent the recurrence of the Al Fasher tragedy, and addressed the political and security-military situation across the country."
The Council called for continuing the efforts of mobilization and rallying to eliminate "the rebellious militia and its mercenaries."
It explained that the Council reviewed "the unprecedented severe violations committed by the Dagalo terrorist militia against unarmed civilians, condemned by the international community, and denounced the negligence of international community institutions in forcing the militia to implement UN resolutions related to not supplying the Darfur region with weapons and ending the siege of Al Fasher."
Sudanese Defense Minister Hassan Kabron stated, "We continue to rally the people to assist the army in eliminating the Rapid Support Forces militia," and indicated that the army would continue the fight.
A member of the Security and Defense Council told Al Jazeera that there will be no truce unless the Rapid Support Forces withdraw from the cities they have occupied and disarm. He also emphasized that there will be no truce if they do not leave the cities and gather in designated camps.
In the same context, the Council discussed the humanitarian situation and the initiatives presented by some international parties, expressing its welcome to "the sincere efforts that call for ending the suffering of Sudanese due to the rebellion of the Dagalo terrorist militia."
The Council thanked "the United States government and Mr. Massad Boulos, advisor to US President Donald Trump, for his appreciated efforts concerning the crisis."
