WhatsApp launches an app version for Apple Watches

Khaberni - WhatsApp officially launched its new app designed specifically for the Apple Watch, a long-awaited move by platform users, enabling them to finally read messages, receive calls, and send voice recordings directly from their wrist without needing a phone.

The company, owned by "Meta", stated in a statement on its official blog: "The new experience will help users keep up with their conversations easily, without having to take their phone out of their pocket."

The company added that the watch app allows full message reading, replying, and interacting with messages using emojis, along with displaying clearer images and stickers, and the ability to view a larger part of the chat history while reading.

WhatsApp confirmed that all messages and calls will remain protected with end-to-end encryption technology, as is the case with its phone app.

The new app requires an Apple Watch Series 4 or later, with watchOS 10 or a later version.

The company indicated that it plans to add more features in the future, which means that smartwatch users might later receive more integrated functions with the main app.

This launch comes after WhatsApp was recently seen testing the new app in beta versions, as part of its efforts to expand the user experience beyond phones.

Earlier this year, the company introduced the "WhatsApp" app for iPad devices, which allows making group audio and video calls up to 32 people, screen sharing, and using both the front and rear cameras.

The entry of "WhatsApp" onto the Apple Watch platform comes just a few months after "Snapchat" launched a similar app, focusing on enabling users to quickly respond to messages using the keyboard, voice dictation, or emojis, without displaying images or videos.
