Khaberni - The Palestinian Authority and Israel have expressed reservations about the American resolution project to create an international force in Gaza, in cooperation with the Arab League.

Informed Palestinian sources told "Al Sharq Al Awsat": "We welcome the formation of the force through the Security Council, but we demand the activation of Chapter Seven or Six. We have reservations about the nature of the force’s work, the duration of the mandate, and the role of the Authority. We seek a clearer role that enables the Palestinian state. These remarks will be discussed with the Arab team."

Hebrew media outlets have reported from unnamed Israeli sources that the resolution proposal tends towards their demands, but there are reservations.

The Israeli sources expressed acceptance of the text regarding the force's handling of disarmament in Gaza, which is a major problem and is expected to cause widespread Palestinian rejection.

Israel rejects the presence of the Palestinian Authority and possible Turkish forces, but it may agree to the presence of a Palestinian police force.

Sources told "Yedioth Ahronoth" that Israel opposes the establishment of a Palestinian police force, but they understand that it is an Arab demand and might accept it.

It appears that Israel will directly present its remarks to the United States. Officials said: "This is a draft, and feedback is expected from Europe and Arab countries."

Israel will confirm to Washington its rejection of the presence of Turkish forces.

Diplomatic sources told "Yedioth Ahronoth": "Turks are not supposed to participate in the peacekeeping force or send troops to Gaza, but Israel will likely not be able to object to their participation in the reconstruction of Gaza in terms of investments and the flow of money."

The countries participating in the force have not yet been determined, and Arab countries have linked their participation to the nature of the force's mandate in Gaza.
