Khaberni - German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed on Tuesday his refusal to deport the Syrian refugees residing in Germany at the current time, amidst the widespread destruction caused by the civil war in Syria.
During his visit to Ghana, Steinmeier said: "Those who stand before the ruins of war and express their fear and wonder: Is it possible to live amidst this destruction? It is right that this fear should allow for a respite."
This position comes days after the visit of German Foreign Minister Johann Vadivol to Syria, where he expressed doubts about the possibility of the voluntary return of a large number of refugees soon due to the immense scale of destruction, especially in areas like Harasta in the Damascus countryside.
This statement reflects Germany's commitment to protecting the rights of refugees and providing them with necessary time before any potential resettlement in areas that have not yet recovered from the war.
