Khaberni - The Director of Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Center for Educational Technology and Information Management, Engineer Munib Tashman, stated that the Ministry of Education is keen on digital transformation to keep students and teachers up to date with the latest technological developments, as progress is no longer optional but has become a necessity.
Tashman indicated during the Government Communication Forum on Tuesday that the ministry has started digitizing educational materials, student and teacher data, including administrators, securely against breaches through the ministry’s cybersecurity division, in coordination with the National Cybersecurity Center.
Tashman explained that the ministry has begun creating a website linked to artificial intelligence technologies, aimed at helping educational bodies prepare curricula that keep pace with global technological advancements, and assisting students in studying and keeping up with the latest developments in this field.
He clarified that in the coming years, students might carry "laptops" or "iPads" instead of schoolbooks.
On his part, the acting Director of Vocational Education Management, Engineer Ibrahim Al-Ramadhneh, confirmed that the Ministry of Education has been developing technical and vocational education for more than four years, extending it to a three-year duration from the tenth to the twelfth grade, and has introduced the latest technological developments into it.
He noted that the vocational and technical education specialties, which number 12, now meet the needs of the local and international job market. He highlighted that the ministry plans to increase these specialties to 15 next year and that vocational and technical education will be available in most schools across the kingdom in the coming years.
