Khaberni - The French Wissam Ben Yedder, a player for the Turkish football team Sakaryaspor, faces a rape charge has been referred to the regional criminal court.
The French newspaper "L'Équipe" reported in its article that Wissam Ben Yedder and his brother Sabri will be tried for rape and sexual assault in the summer of 2023.
An investigation into the 35-year-old player has been opened, and he and his brother have been charged after meeting two girls at a party in 2023.
However, Wissam Ben Yedder and his brother have the right to appeal against the court's decision after the investigating judge approved a recommendation from the public prosecutor, who requested at the end of last May to try the former French international and his brother for rape.
Wissam Ben Yedder has previously been convicted of sexual assault while he was drunk on a young woman in 2024.
This is not the first legal issue Wissam Ben Yedder has faced recently, as he was fined 90,000 euros by the Nice criminal court for causing psychological harm to his estranged wife.
In addition, Ben Yedder has been convicted of tax evasion during his time representing Sevilla from 2016 to 2019.
