Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Tuesday, received British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Secretary Ivett Cooper, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince.
The meeting discussed the strong relations between Jordan and Britain, and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields, especially trade, industry, and defense.
Speaking about regional developments, His Majesty emphasized the need to ensure compliance with the Gaza war termination agreement and to intensify international efforts for humanitarian response.
His Majesty warned of the dangers of escalating against the Palestinians in the West Bank, and assaulting the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
His Majesty stressed the importance of Britain's efforts to restore calm and achieve peace in the region, expressing his appreciation for the UK's decision to recognize the State of Palestine last September.
His Majesty pointed to the need to support the efforts of Syria and Lebanon in maintaining their security, stability, and territorial sovereignty.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and the Director of His Majesty's Office, Alaa Batayneh.
