Khaberni - Emirates Airlines announced an investment of around 85 million dirhams in the installation of more than 200 cameras equipped with facial recognition technology "biometric" in Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport, enabling travelers to complete their travel procedures after recognition of facial features only, without needing a passport or boarding pass, through quick registration via the Emirates app or smart kiosks at the airport.

This step is in collaboration with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, as part of supporting the "Smart City" strategy, speeding up travel procedures, and reducing queues. The cameras operate on recognizing faces from a distance of up to one meter, allowing smooth passage without stopping to show documents.
The steps for using this service include:

1. Registration via the Emirates app or at check-in desks, by scanning the passport, and capturing a biometric photo, for those over 18 years of age, and Skywards program members.

2. Completing travel procedures: Using the face instead of a passport or boarding pass at self-service kiosks or check-in desks.

3. Smart passport gates: Passing through in seconds via the biometric smart gates without a passport or boarding pass.

4. Lounge access: Entry to Emirates lounges in Concourse B by facial recognition only.

5. Boarding the aircraft: Boarding the flight through gates that use facial recognition in Concourses A, B, and C.
The benefits of the new system include:

·      Eliminating the need to show a passport or boarding pass.

·      Reducing waiting time and queues.

·      A smart and smooth travel experience from door to plane.

·      A secure system in collaboration with the Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.

·      Available for visitors, residents, UAE nationals, and GCC council members.
