Khaberni - Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan met with the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in the Qatari capital, Doha, today, Monday.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance the historical brotherly relations between the two countries in various fields. The Prime Minister reviewed the strategic projects Jordan is undertaking in the sectors of energy, transport, water, tourism, and infrastructure, and the potential for cooperation in these areas.
The Prime Minister and his Qatari counterpart reaffirmed during the meeting their joint commitment to maintain coordination, cooperation, and to develop economic relations to serve the interests of both countries and their fraternal peoples.
The meeting also addressed regional developments, particularly the Palestinian issue. The Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of full adherence to the Gaza ceasefire and the implementation of all its terms, ensuring the sustainable entry of humanitarian and relief aid into the area in sufficient quantities to curb the worsening humanitarian suffering, halting serious escalations, and violations in the West Bank, and the necessity of initiating a political course leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the two-state solution.
The meeting comes ahead of the Prime Minister’s participation, representing His Majesty King Abdullah II, in the proceedings of the second World Summit for Social Development hosted by Doha, organized by the United Nations, with broad international participation. The Prime Minister thanked his Qatari counterpart for the efforts made to host this summit.
The meeting was attended by the Jordanian ambassador in Doha, Zaid Al Lozi.
