The foreign Minister confirms the need to ensure commitment to the terms of the Gaza ceasefire agreement

Khaberni - The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, participated on Monday in the ministerial meeting concerning Gaza in Istanbul at the invitation of the Turkish Republic’s Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan.

The meeting, which was attended by the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Indonesia, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs in the State of Qatar, and the State Minister in the Foreign Ministry of the United Arab Emirates, discussed the efforts made to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza Strip and adhere to all terms of the agreement, and to deliver humanitarian aid to the sector without obstacles, in addition to the steps related to the future governance and security of Gaza, and moving forward with clear steps to achieve a fair peace based on a two-state solution.

Safadi emphasized during his speech in the meeting the necessity of guaranteeing the commitment to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza in all its terms, and progress towards addressing the catastrophic consequences of the war on Gaza and linking efforts to achieve stability with a political horizon that realizes fair and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution.

Safadi stressed the need to adequately and sustainably introduce humanitarian aid to the sector and to lift Israeli obstacles to its entry, and advancement within a comprehensive vision that ensures security, stability, and reconstruction in Gaza.

Safadi affirmed Jordan's appreciation of the efforts of American President Donald Trump and his role in reaching the ceasefire agreement and his vision for achieving peace in the region. He also appreciated the significant efforts made by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey in reaching the agreement and in ensuring the consolidation of the ceasefire and the beginning of the second phase of the agreement.

Safadi thanked his Turkish counterpart for hosting the meeting for Arab and Islamic countries whose leaders participated in the meeting with the American President on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in September last year.

Safadi reiterated the necessity of stopping the dangerous escalation and illegal Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank that undermine the chances of achieving peace and warned of the consequences of the continuation of these actions on all efforts to stabilize the region.

The ministers agreed to continue consultations and coordination intensively and stressed the need for all efforts to be united to consolidate the ceasefire and make the second phase of the agreement successful.
