Karmas Case Escalates in Egypt Accusations and Efforts to Compensate the Family

Khaberni - The lawyer Rabie Khlailey, defense for the student Karma, a victim of the assault incident at Capital International School in the Fifth Settlement in Egypt, revealed that he initiated a new lawsuit against the school administration for negligence after it was proven that she sustained a permanent disability of 5%.

Khlailey explained in media statements that the anticipated lawsuit would include a substantial financial compensation claim for the student, as compensation for the physical and psychological damages she suffered, following the release of the forensic report which confirmed she sustained a permanent injury amounting to 5%, as a result of the assault by three female students inside the school, who have been referred to criminal trial.

The student's lawyer confirmed that the school administration failed to take any immediate actions to protect the students or manage the situation when the fight occurred, considering this negligence a serious breach of its duty to provide a safe environment for students, warranting legal and civil accountability for negligence in performing its professional and educational duty.

Khlailey added that the reports and testimonies collected from the students and workers in the school confirm the lack of adequate supervision during the incident, which contributed to the exacerbation of the situation, leading to serious injuries to the student Karma, leaving a permanent impact.

The lawyer indicated that he would formally request the relevant judicial authorities to prevent the accused students from traveling abroad, until all trial procedures are completed and to ensure their presence at the investigation and criminal trial sessions, asserting that he is closely monitoring the case to ensure that student Karma and her family receive their full legal rights.

The incident dates back to when the student Karma was assaulted by three students inside Capital International School in the Fifth Settlement area in Cairo Governorate last September, resulting in severe injuries that required her hospitalization and an official complaint against the accused, before the Public Prosecutor's Office referred the case to the competent court after completing the investigations.

The student's family confirmed earlier that they would not give up their daughter's legal and moral rights, especially after the proof of the permanent disability she suffered as a result of the incident, while the family awaits developments on the new lawsuit announced by their lawyer in the upcoming period.
