Khaberni - The Israeli police arrested the head of the General Federation of Labor (Histadrut) and his wife, along with dozens of others in a widespread raid early Monday morning on allegations of investigating a corruption case, according to Israeli media reports.
In addition to Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar David and his wife, Israeli sites mentioned the arrest of the mayor of Kiryat Gat, the head of the railway workers committee, and other prominent figures.
Channel 13 Israel reported that the police raided the Histadrut headquarters - which is the main labor union in Israel - and arrested several senior employees.
The details of the case being investigated were not immediately clear, but Israeli media said it involved bribes within the union.
The head of the Histadrut had supported protest actions during the Israeli genocide in Gaza, calling for a prisoner exchange agreement and a stop to the war.
The union supported a general strike on August 17th last year, without officially participating in it.
These arrests coincide with other investigations launched by Israeli authorities concerning the leak of a video - broadcast in August of last year - showing a sexual assault on a Palestinian prisoner in Sidim Teiman camp in the Negev desert, which led to the dismissal of the military public prosecutor.
Over the span of two years, Israel, with American support, waged a genocide war against the residents of the Gaza Strip, which included killing, starving, destruction, and forced displacement.
The genocide resulted in about 69,000 martyrs and more than 170,000 injured, and 460 Palestinians died from starvation, including 154 children.
