Khaberni - "SpaceX", led by Elon Musk, has emerged as one of the prominent candidates to execute the Golden Dome project, which was announced by American President Donald Trump to protect American territories from hostile aerial attacks, even from space, as reported by "The Wall Street Journal".
The Golden Dome would provide a comprehensive defensive network against missiles and aircraft targeting American territories, similar to the Iron Dome which has been in use in Israel for years.
The Pentagon, on its part, has not disclosed any final details related to the project. It is noted that the "SpaceX" contract could reach two billion dollars, but it won’t be the only one due to the size of the project, and more than one company such as "Anduril" and "Palantir" might participate in it.
The role of "SpaceX" includes building a network of 600 satellites that would detect hostile missiles and aircraft before they reach American territories, in addition to two separate projects for building a military communications network for the Pentagon and a vehicle tracking network.
Trump previously clarified his intent to build and deliver the Iron Dome before leaving the Oval Office in January 2029, adding that the Golden Dome would be capable of intercepting all missiles launched towards the United States, even those from space, and the final cost of the project could reach 175 billion dollars.
The independent Congressional Budget Office believes that the final cost of the project could reach 524 billion dollars, requiring more than 20 years for its completion, according to a separate report by the "Independent" newspaper.
