Khaberni - The production company announced the final cancellation of the Turkish series "Love and Tears" after airing its seventh episode, thus prematurely ending the drama that brought together star Hande Erçel and Barış Arduç, despite the large buzz that accompanied its launch.
Turkish newspapers revealed that the channel "E TV" decided to end the series definitively amid a sharp decline in viewership and increasing crises faced by the production team since its inception.
The reports clarified that the decision came after a decline in viewership rates in Turkey, despite the wide promotional campaign that preceded the series' launch, which then created a state of anticipation among the audience. However, enthusiasm quickly waned after the first episodes aired, amid criticisms directed at the pace of events and the scenario.
However, viewership rates were not the only reason behind the cancellation. The series faced a series of production and dramatic crises, most notably the withdrawal of writer Dilara Pamuk after the third episode was aired, causing clear confusion in the storyline and multiple postponements of filming operations under the pretext of rewriting some scenes and reordering events.
Turkish newspapers also pointed out that the producing channel tried to save the project with repeated modifications to the script and replacing some artistic elements, but these attempts were unsuccessful, amidst tensions and disputes behind the scenes that reflected on the quality of the final episodes.
The series tells the story of "Mira," an aristocratic wealthy girl who falls in love with "Selim," a smart lawyer from a modest background. Amidst class struggles and the accumulation of old secrets, this love turns into a complex relationship blending emotion and pain, in the face of the society's harshness and social disparities that threaten their stability.
Commenters on Turkish social media platforms said: "Stopping the project means that the name of the artist and their stardom cannot save a weak production, nor is it sufficient for competing in the current drama season".
