Madaba A Quality Procedure to Extract a Large Kidney Stone Using an Endoscope

Khaberni - A specialized medical team at Al-Nadeem Government Hospital in Madaba Governorate successfully carried out a quality procedure to extract a large kidney stone using an endoscope.
The hospital director Dr. Baha Al-Halalme stated that the execution of this quality procedure was the result of the Ministry of Health’s commitment to providing the appropriate environment for such operations, as well as ensuring the availability of modern tools and equipment to serve patients in Madaba Governorate.
Detailing the procedure, the team leader, urology specialist Dr. Rashed Al-Khalaileh told the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) that the stone was 4 centimeters long and was removed from a kidney of a patient originally suffering from a congenital kidney deformity called "horse-shoe kidney" through an endoscope using 4 small incisions.
He added that the difficulty of this operation lies in the presence of the horse-shoe deformity in the kidney, where the anatomical position of the kidney and its feeding arteries is unusual. He noted that this type of operation was performed for the first time in Jordan, employing an endoscope with small incisions which reduces post-operative pain and speeds up the patient’s recovery and discharge from the hospital.
The medical team that conducted the operation included specialist doctors Dr. Rashed Al-Khalaileh, Dr. Suleiman Abu Judeh, Dr. Qusai Samreen, along with anesthesiologists supervised by Dr. Mohammed Al-Hawatmeh and the surgical nursing team supervised by nurse Jameel Al-Fasheekat, along with the surgical department nursing staff.
