Khaberni - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hosts a meeting in Istanbul on Monday regarding Gaza, with the participation of foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries.
A Turkish diplomatic source quoted by the Anadolu Agency stated that the foreign ministers of Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Qatar, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia are participating in the meeting, which will discuss the latest developments regarding the ceasefire and the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
In the meeting, Fidan is expected to point out that Israel is fabricating pretexts to evade the ceasefire and will emphasize the need for the international community to take a firm stance against Israeli provocative actions.
Fidan is anticipated to underline the importance of coordinated efforts among Islamic countries to ensure the transition from a ceasefire to lasting peace, and will state that the humanitarian aid entering Gaza is insufficient and that Israel is not fulfilling its commitments in this regard.
The source reported that Fidan will stress that the constant delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to Gaza is both a humanitarian and legal necessity, as well as the crucial need to exert pressure on Israel in this matter.
The Turkish minister is expected to affirm the necessity of implementing arrangements that ensure Palestinians take over security and governance of Gaza as soon as possible.
Also, Fidan is expected to address the importance of preserving the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the vision of a two-state solution, and emphasize the importance of continuing consultations and close coordination regarding the steps to be taken on United Nations platforms.
It is noted that the countries participating in the meeting on Monday in Istanbul, participated at the leadership level in a meeting with US President Donald Trump on September 23 last year, during the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
