Khaberni - The match between Esperance Sportive de Jerba and Future Marsa in the Tunisian Professional League 1 football witnessed an unfortunate incident that led to the premature end of the match.
The referee Haytham Tarabulsi decided to stop the game at the 83rd minute after Future Marsa coach Amer Darbal was hit by an object thrown from the stands, causing a head injury that required hospital treatment. The incident sparked outrage and condemnation within the Tunisian sports community due to its severe violation of sportsmanship and the safety of technical staff, unprecedented in the Tunisian League.
In an official statement, the Tunisian Football Federation expressed its full solidarity with coach Amer Darbal and wishes for his speedy recovery, strongly condemning all forms of violence within the stadiums. The federation emphasized that the incident represents unacceptable behavior that has nothing to do with sportsmanship, adding that it will follow up on the incident with full responsibility and hold all those involved accountable, whether individuals or associations, according to the laws and regulations in force.
The federation clarified in its statement that the incident will not pass without strict deterrent measures being taken, indicating its determination to protect all components of the game from players, coaches, referees, and fans, and to fight against the manifestations of rioting and physical and verbal violence. It also called on clubs to take responsibility for educating their fans about the need to respect sports values, to preserve the image of Tunisian football and the reputation of national sports.
The federation concluded its statement by affirming that it would not tolerate any form of violence, committing to continue its efforts to foster a culture of respect, fair competition, and to ensure matches are held in a safe and responsible environment befitting the status of Tunisian football.
